Will Buyers Buy to Have Chickens and Fresh Eggs?

Will Having Chickens and Fresh Eggs Woo Home Buyers?

Chickens Selling HousesYou never know for sure what special features are going to sway buyers into making an offer. It is not uncommon to see chicken coops in neighborhood backyards and raised gardens for the purpose of growing herbs and vegetables. These natural features are catching the attention of today's home buyers and causing some buyers to act.

As agents once we identify the location and price range we focus on specifics that meet the needs of the buyers. We know buyers like the standard specialties and of course the floor plan and room sizes matter, too. But once these must-haves have been met what other features will sway a buyer to put in an offer?

Could it be that having chickens and fresh eggs every morning would make a buyer take action? What about growing your own fresh, organic veggies in the convenience of your own backyard rather than going to the market? I say both of these features will woo some buyers into buying. The trend of raising your own food source is exploding and more and more buyers are embracing it and loving the idea.

At a recent seminar the instructor told us about a friend of his that established a website called Backyard Chickens. The backyard chicken business is booming and has grown exponentially. He knew little about it when he started the site but that didn't stop him. He hit pay-dirt. The forum is interactive and his Facebook Page has nearly a half million Likes. Pretty much everything you want to know about raising backyard chickens is there.

Will this chicken trend sell houses? It did recently for me. The buyers liked the house but loved the idea of having chickens and fresh eggs. The raised garden beds brought smiles to their faces with the thoughts of fresh tomatoes, cucumbers and their own herb garden. Chickens, eggs and organic veggies made the buyers want to buy right then.
