Fireworks Tents Mean Fireworks and Holidays in Clarksville

When Are Fireworks Allowed in Clarksville TN?

Fireworks tents in ClarksvilleThe Independence Day holiday is just a few weeks away and it is evident as you drive through the City of Clarksville. Fireworks stands are popping up around Clarksville meaning sales of fireworks will start anytime now. Generally about 2 weeks before the holiday vendors start selling and this year it appears that there are more tents than ever. Parking lots, grassy fields and gravel lots are now buzzing with activity.

If you are new to Clarksville, you are limited as to when you can discharge fireworks within the city limits.

The City of Clarksville has an ordinance specifying detailed regulations about fireworks. While it is legal to sell them in the city limits you cannot discharge them any time you feel like it.

The Clarksville City Council adopted an Official Code for the City of Clarksville pertaining to fireworks. At no time of day, any time of the year are fireworks allowed in any City Park.  Not only the discharging of fireworks is regulated but the mere possession of having them is reason to be cited by the either the city police or the local Fire Marshall and could cause the fireworks to be confiscated.

There is an exception to the rule that the City of Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department may use fireworks during some special events but even these are usually set off over the river where it is safer to do. This year's City sponsored event Independence Day Celebration is at Liberty Park on July 3 starting at 6:00pm. The fireworks display begins at 9:30 and will be over before 10:00.

The conflict is the City Ordinance says it is illegal to set off fireworks within the city limits even on the Fourth of July Holiday. It was allowable to purchase them within the city limits but not discharge them. This has been further clarified by special ordinance to identify certain dates and times where they are allowed to be discharged. You must be at least 16 years of age and have the supervision of an adult or person of at least 18 years old.

Check out days and times when fireworks may be discharged within the city limits.
