Surrender of Fort Defiance in Clarksville, TN 2018 Reenactment

Come Learn About the Surrender of Fort Defiance in Clarksville, TN

It's time for the Annual Commemoration of the Surrender of Clarksville. It will be held at Fort Defiance Civil War Park and Interpretive Center on Saturday, February 24, 2018.

The Interpretive Center will host a living history reenactment from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM. The commemoration will be of the Union soldiers taking over the Fort in 1862. It was significant in opening the south to Union forces and lead the way for Nashville to be overtaken shortly thereafter.

There will be cannon firing demonstrations. This is for the whole family and you don't want to miss it.

Ft. Defiance Civil War Park and Interpretive Center

Fort Defiance is located high above the river and overlooking Clarksville. The armies on both sided moved troops up and down the river. The Fort was under the control of each Army at least once. The Union Army controlled it the longest amount of time.

To visit Fort Defiance Civil War Park & Interpretive Center go to the north side of Clarksville, north of the Red and Cumberland Rivers. The street address is120 Duncan St.

The center has displays about the Surrender. There is a documentary film on the history surrounding the Fort and it's impact on Clarksville. This is wonderful historic resource in Clarksville and a fun place to visit. Admission is free.

There are walking trails and picnic areas available at the park. It is open 7 days a week (except certain holidays). Call 931-472-3351 for more information or visit the website for more details.
