Sellers, Check the Dishwasher Before You Leave
This tends to happen over and over. It happened again the other day at the walk-through. When checking the dishwasher, dishes were found left behind by the seller. In the sellers' haste to leave or just pure oversight, some of the sellers' dinnerware did not make it on the moving truck.
The sellers left days before and will be visiting friends and family on the way to their new destination. When called about the left behind dishes, the seller said just keep them or dispose of them or give them away. It isn't worth the effort to pack them up and ship across the country.
The expense would be more than buying more dishes and they are ready for something new anyway at their new destination. So the local thrift store again is the beneficiary of these left behind items and the seller is the loser.
This can all be avoided if the seller will just not be in too big a rush and take a quick peek inside the dishwasher before leaving.
While at it, the seller should also not forget to check the cabinet over the refrigerator, the attic or the top shelf of the closets. I also see things left in the oven and in the bottom drawer of the range.
Over the years I have rescued enough dishes and pots and pans to equip a full kitchen.
