It Warms the Heart

Good sportsmanship

When people show they care it warms the heart. At our local college football game, both teams gathered at mid-field before the game to show support and concern for one of the team members that was seriously injured in the previous week's game. The injured player sustained a severe concussion and was in still in the hospital in critical condition, unconscious.

That is team spirit when you care about injured players on the opposing team and gather to show support. It warms the heart and that is just plain good sportsmanship. It was so sobering.

When one of your teammates is suffering or burdened, do you show you care? Do you offer words of encouragement or offer to listen? Do you cut them some slack if they seem distracted or cool? We all need a shoulder of support from time to time but we also need to lend our shoulder in a time of need.
