Age Has Its Benefits- Discounts for Seniors

Sometimes It Pays to Have a Birthday

DiscountsThis week was a big birthday for me and frankly, I am glad it finally came. From this point forth I will be able to same lots of money as getting senior discounts only comes to those that have earned it through having lots of birthdays.

There are several that I know about that I will be using. I will mention specifically. There are others I don't know about but will enjoy discovering. One thing is for sure, if you don't ask for it, you won't know if you are missing out on the discount. Here is a link to the senior restaurant discount list.

The discounts below are some I know about and will be using soon.

  • Chick-fil-a offers a free coffee for seniors.
  • McDonalds has a senior discount price on a coffee or soft drink.
  • Captain D's offers a special menu for seniors on Wednesdays and Sundays.
  • Regal, Carmike and AMC theaters offer senior priced tickets that are usually better priced than matinee.
  • Most chain hotels offer a AARP or senior discount on all their rooms.
  • Many attractions, parks and events offer a discount to seniors.
  • U.S. Parks Service offers a park pass for $10 allowing up to 4 people in the party into National Parks for free.
  • Ross's Stores- 10% off every Tuesday.
  • Kohl's- 15% off on Wednesdays.
  • SteinMart- 20% off on Mondays

Don't forget to ask to see if there is a discount. It is your money to save. You have earned it, why not keep it?

Debbie, I stopped at MacDonald's this morning, and asked for a senior coffee.  Thanks for the other tips for senior discounts.

This is so cool Debbie, I love AARP. I get a discount at Walgreen's and Denny's among others.

I love my Golden Eagle Pass that gets me into the National Parks for FREE.  Back in 2009 I visited 3 parks along Utah's Highway 12 with it.  They were Capital Reef, Bryce, and Zion!

Good morning Debbie. Senior discounts are wonderful. Even my grocery store has a one day discount for seniors. It turns into real money.

As a senior a bit ahead of you I have no problem of taking a deal anywhere I can find it.

Debbie, saw on FB it was your birthday, hope you enjoyed it.   Those milestones can be tough, but not when you save money on purchases!

Hi Debbie... the minute I turned 50 I started asking about senior discounts; now being well past 65, I always check and I always take advantage.

Hi Debbie... one thing I learned was simply to also ask if they will do a senior discount, often retailers do even if they don't make it public.

Thanks for the reminder.  I turned 60 in November and keep forgetting to ask for the senior discount.  Kohl's is a great one.
