Serendipity Sundays - First Tomatoes of the Season

Serendipity Sundays - The Harvest Has Begun

First Tomatoes

Spring has sprung in Clarksville TN and the warm temps came early which meant that my garden got planted early. I was given several dozen tomato plants and was over zealous about thinking I had the space for all of them. I gave away half of the plants to others.

It turned out that I did have room to plant 28 plants. Some are cherry tomatoes, some a mountain variety and some big boys. All the plants have been blooming for a couple of weeks now and several already have tomatoes ripening. I picked the first ones today. It is going to be a good harvest and I am going to have enough to share.

I wish my ActiveRain friends were closer so I could bless you with part of my abundance.

The next best thing will be to share photos of the garden and harvest as it comes in. The harvest has begun.

I hang my head when it comes to my prize garden as the spring weather has crushed me and my garden with a cold start, then heat, everything is behind here Debbie Reynolds

Hi Lawrence "Larry" & Sheila Agranoff. Cell: 631-805-4400, last year I planted lettuce and had wonderful salads. This year I planted broccoli and it isn't looking nearly as good as the tomatoes.

I think of you when I am out in my garden. I did some weeding and thinning of plants this weekend. I ordered some supplies online and they will be here tomorrow. I have more thinning and weeding to do.

I love a good tomato and all the rest of the vegetables as well and all that good stuff!

Fresh tomatoes are wonderful on their own or in my favorite Gazpacho soup. We lived next door to an Italian family a few years back and every year they all got together to make sauce from the tomato harvest. Always a fun time.

At my elevation, harvest comes a little later although I am starting to see some of the earlier plantings ripen.  Good luck with your garden this year.
