Fireworks Tents Mean Fireworks and Holidays in Clarksville

When Are Fireworks Allowed in Clarksville TN?

Fireworks tents in ClarksvilleThe Independence Day holiday is just a few weeks away and it is evident as you drive through the City of Clarksville. Fireworks stands are popping up around Clarksville meaning sales of fireworks will start anytime now. Generally about 2 weeks before the holiday vendors start selling and this year it appears that there are more tents than ever. Parking lots, grassy fields and gravel lots are now buzzing with activity.

If you are new to Clarksville, you are limited as to when you can discharge fireworks within the city limits.

The City of Clarksville has an ordinance specifying detailed regulations about fireworks. While it is legal to sell them in the city limits you cannot discharge them any time you feel like it.

The Clarksville City Council adopted an Official Code for the City of Clarksville pertaining to fireworks. At no time of day, any time of the year are fireworks allowed in any City Park.  Not only the discharging of fireworks is regulated but the mere possession of having them is reason to be cited by the either the city police or the local Fire Marshall and could cause the fireworks to be confiscated.

There is an exception to the rule that the City of Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department may use fireworks during some special events but even these are usually set off over the river where it is safer to do. This year's City sponsored event Independence Day Celebration is at Liberty Park on July 3 starting at 6:00pm. The fireworks display begins at 9:30 and will be over before 10:00.

The conflict is the City Ordinance says it is illegal to set off fireworks within the city limits even on the Fourth of July Holiday. It was allowable to purchase them within the city limits but not discharge them. This has been further clarified by special ordinance to identify certain dates and times where they are allowed to be discharged. You must be at least 16 years of age and have the supervision of an adult or person of at least 18 years old.

Check out days and times when fireworks may be discharged within the city limits.

The pyrotechnics included in the special ordinance are firecrackers, sparklers, torpedoes, Roman candles, powder-loaded pinwheels or are any other article that can be described or sold as a firework.

Debbie, this is a site we are seeing a lot around here too.   The regulations are pretty strict with our dry weather.   Many fireworks are illegal.

A few years ago we had drought conditions and fireworks were not even permitted that year. We are not in danger of that happening this year. Have a Happy Sunday, Joan Cox.

Fireworks is one of my favorite memories of Tennessee, as we would usually visit in July and we could buy fireworks on the side of the road.  I remember setting the off in the field across from my Grandma's house!

Good morning Debbie. Sounds pretty complicated to me. That said I really enjoy the firework.

It is an easy exercise to remember the fire season you had last year and I hope those using fireworks keep them uner control this year.

Debbie,

Congratulations on reaching the 3 million mark.  Your post is appropriate on firewords.  They are illegal here in our neck of the woods and for good reasons. A

I can remember when on my block growing up it sounded and looked like WWIII and it is a ownder we didn't set the block on fire. In Oklahoma City you can't sell them or even bring them into the city.

Hi Debbie - there certainly have been changes in many areas regarding fireworks.  I see that you can do it in some states like PA which was not the case when I was growing up.

It varies so much from area to area. I know years ago it was ok to discharge them anytime. I guess it got to be a nuisance.

We had something very similar, Joe Pryor. I thought my brothers had enough to blow up the house.
