Real Estate by Debbie Reynolds: What Buyers and Sellers Want in 2017

What Buyers and Sellers Want in 2017

A New Look at What the Consumer is Looking for from the Agent

What an exciting day it was for Clarksville REALTORS® as we met for a membership meeting and to hear Nobu Hata, Director of Member Engagement for the National Association of REALTORS® share a presentation on What Buyers and Sellers Want in 2017.

Nobu Hata

Nobu speaks at events, conventions and associations across the country and 200 of us today were lucky to hear him share a couple of truths that hit home about the changing consumer.

Trust propostion

We have heard for years that we agents need a value proposition and be able to convey this to the consumer. Once they know how much integrity and knowledge we have they will want to hire us. Now the shift has changed. Buyers and sellers can get the information they need so what they want is to know what is your trust proposition? Are we conveying that in our words and our actions to win the buyers and sellers?

Information is abundant and the consumer knows exactly where to go to get it. Thus the Zillows of the world have carved a niche and made themselves the place to go and put their names on the tip of the tongues of people across the nation.

So how does one compete with the big guns? You make yourself memorable, the local expert. You carve your spot in the local market by setting yourself apart, being remembered as the person that turns information into knowledge. The consumer wants to be empowered and when they trust you to be the one to do that, you have a win-win situation.

Thanks to Nobu Hata for leaving us with many important principles to think about.

Debbie, it sounds like Nobu shared a lot of insight. I think if someone trusts you they will naturally want to work with you. So many unknowns in real estate - gives us all an opportunity to showcase how our clients can rely on us.

Hi Debbie - That's an astute observation, which many here on AR understand and have incorporated into their blogging strategy. Information is everywhere now, but trust is harder to find.

I bet that was an excellent presentation to be a part of.  Thanks for these very smart words.  Without trust - you have nothing.

I agree; if we make ourselves memorable to people, the business will follow.

Great blog.  Where there is no trust, there is no relationship with our clients!

Considering where real estate agents have rated on those surveys of "Who do you trust" most and least, this will be a challenge for the industry.

Can a hand full of trustworthy agents turn industry perception around? Let's hope so.

Trust is the Number One reason the consumer chooses an agent.

We have some work to do as a whole.

Nobu Hata spoke at the Florida Realtors Convention last week and drew a huge crowd.

Trust is certainly number one with me. Too many service providers out there that have disappointed the public.

Hi Debbie

Nobu is always a great speaker, and this was certainly something to think seriously about...and it makes so much sense. Trust is a big deal, and it's certainly important to me when dealing with vendors, etc. No reason why it shouldn't be at the top of the list for buyers and sellers.
