Real Estate by Debbie Reynolds: Will 2018 Be a Gangbuster Year in Real Estate?

Will 2018 Be a Gangbuster Year in Real Estate?

Will 2018 Be a Gangbuster Year for Real Estate?

There is much uncertainty as to the direction real estate sales will take in 2018. We escaped a bullet with the recent tax cut by retaining a good amount of the deductions brought by home ownership. Interest rates are still holding and buyers are still showing lots of interest in buying homes.
This year exceeded many of our expectations and was a record-setting year for many areas. Clarksville TN fared very well with sales. So will 2018 be a Gangbuster year in 2018?
The signs are pointing to real estate continuing to be strong though maybe not as strong as in 2017. Prices have continued to climb and as this happens the buyers' buying power is diminished.
Interest rates are low and likely to start rising into 2018. With the passing of the holidays, more properties will be coming on the market and buyers will have more choices.
Inventory of homes for sale in Clarksville is lower now by 50% than last year this time. Some of this is seasonal but most is a result of a very active market.
The workforce is steady and industry is gearing up. Hankook Tire is in production and staffing up. Google may make their move into the area this year. LG Appliances is under construction and will be hiring this year. More schools are on the agenda for building and the City of Clarksville continues to grow. Unemployment is at 2-3%.
Will 2018 Be a Gangbuster Year for Real Estate?
Rental occupancy rates are low and this is an indication that buying may be the only option some people have. Looking at 2018, I am extremely optimistic and know that we could see another great year in real estate.

Hi Debbie,

With low inventory levels, 2018 will be a great year for people that decide to sell.

I hope that you have a wonderful New Year!

Smart consumers are anxious to take advantage of the very low mortgage interest rates.

Best wishes for continued success in 2018!

With our industry this is a question every year - we can turn south so easily with too many rate increases, a black swan event, a lack of consumer confidence whether deserved or not!

Debbie, it has been a long time since I have seen the term gangbuster used so thanks for that. I have enough pendings for 2018 to not have to work another day so 2018 will be unique.

Debbie, thinking Denver may be a tad slower in 2018, as mid-year 2017 we saw LOTS of new inventory, which made the latter part of the year slower.  We shall see.  I have LOTS in the pipeline for first quarter 2018.   Hope it continues.  Happy New Year, and hope 2018 is good for you!
