We once carefully calculated the cost of maintaining the condos vs. SFH. No surprise, condos end up costing a little less.
it, actually, should be no surprise. You have maintenance team working every day. Things are being taken care of as they come, and cost per unit or per sq. ft. is less because of the sheer number of units. Plus, there are engineers involved, so the right things are done, no overlooked. It is only when you do some chores for your home yourself, that you get some benefit, but the older you get, the more difficult it gets.
And, of course, affordability is a huge factor in our Daytona Beach area. I wouldn't ever able to live in a beach house, but I live in a condo on the beach.
