Real Estate by Debbie Reynolds: How to Get Rid of Those Thanksgiving Calories

How to Get Rid of Those Thanksgiving Calories

Ways to Burn Off Thanksgiving Dinner Calories

ExerciseThe day after has many of us feeling heavy and lethargic with the consuming of thousands of extra calories. Thanksgiving Dinner is when people tend to overeat and over-drink. Most of us don't realize that a traditional Thanksgiving meal can have as many as 3500 to 5000 calories. This is double what most of us should consume in an entire day.

It's not too late to take action and crank up your exercise regime to help burn more calories. and make these suggestions to get those calories burned up faster. Adding segments of one or two of these to your daily routine will have you feeling better faster.

  1. 7.5 hours of running
  2. 10 hours swimming
  3. 7 hours of cycling at 12-14 miles an hour
  4. 7 hours of touch football
  5. 13 hours of walking at 3.5 mph
  6. 7 hours of swimming laps
  7. 5 hours of jumping rope
  8. 12 hours of lifting weights
  9. 9 hours of vigorous dancing
  10. 19 hours of average intensity sex

Keep your regular routine in place and add this to it. It may take several days to undo the damage and start to feel your old self again.

Remember searching and looking for a new home can burn extra calories too. There is lots of walking, standing and brain power needed. A vigorous day of house hunting could burn 1500 calories a day.

Well number 10 would take some cooperation and some extra days off of work

It's daunting, indeed, to think that 3500 calories need to be burned to get rid of just one pound! It takes a combo of exercise and food reduction to undo the damage of yesterday!

I don't think I took in any extra calories yesterday. By the time I got through cooking I didn't feel a bit like eating.

Oh goodness, I hope I didn't consume that many calories yesterday, Debbie! I did well with walking all week to start the burning process early but, I know I have more to do! The bourbon punch is what killed me last night though! LOL

Hope you have a great weekend...

Fortunately, Debbie, I didn't consume enough calories to worry about working them off.... but as for working off 1,500 calories showing homes to buyers... I'm all for that whether I ate a lot or not!

Hi Debbie.  I told my wife about the 19 hours of sex.  So, I'm now relegated to walking the pounds off.

Hahahahaha to Gabe Sanders  comment. I didn't overeat this year - and even passed up on the pie. However, I'm with Nina, always love to work-off calories showing homes.

I've got round 2 tonight with my husband's family. Was already planning how to watch my portions so I didn't over indulge. Thanks for the reminder.

Lol....I prefer the second solution, although there is much t be said for that "happy medium"!

Thanks for the clever and light-hearted post.

Hello Debbie - Hmm. So many ways.  How many calories are saved when we "push" away the plate?

Had one of my first Thanksgiving dinners at a friends house that didn't include mashed potatoes and gravy.  So sad.  There was rice and pasta (it was a pot luck) and everything was really yummy...just no taters and gravy.  Funny how we stuck in our ways....

Debbie, I am still eating turkey and dressing. :)

I definitely need to do some extra walking this week.

Posted by Roy Kelley (Realty Group Referrals) about 2 years ago

Helpful article - thanks!    I didn't know a vigorous day of house hunting could burn 1500 calories!    And I definitely didn't know Thanksgiving dinner could tally upwards of 5,000 calories - ugh.    It makes sense though, how one feels afterward.   I will not be telling my husband about your 10th option.
